MainCleanUp: Success despite the constant rain
The second MainCleanUp on September 9, 2022 was a success despite bad weather conditions. Around 30 organisations, clubs, companies and neighborhood communities took part on the route from Bayreuth to Rüsselsheim. The focus was on the Frankfurt area, Würzburg, the Schweinfurt/Knetzgau region and Bayreuth. Around 1,000 volunteers collected around five tons of rubbish – mostly plastic. The MainCleanUp river officer Willi Kohlmann praised the participants: "Anyone who gets so involved in bad weather is very serious about environmental protection."
The goals for the new year have already been set: in 2023 there will be two major campaigns - from 11. March to April 2nd in cooperation with the Main FlussFilmFest and on the big day of action on Saturday, September 9th, together with the CleanUp Friends on the Rhine and on 21 other German and European rivers.
